When I’m at a window treatment consultation with a client, there’s one question they always seem too afraid to ask:
“Why are window treatments so expensive?”
It’s a fair question, and while most homeowners decide on their style of blinds, shades, or shutters for cosmetic reasons, they often forget the functionality of blinds when making this important decision.
- About 20 percent of your heating and cooling costs are caused by heat gain or loss through the windows. The west windows in your home receive the most sun during the day, and the south windows in your home receive the second most heat.
- With warmer weather well on the way, now is a great time to reassess the window treatments you have in your home. Depending on the type of blinds, shades, or shutters you use, you greatly increase your control over the heat gained and lost through your windows, thus lowering your electric bills.
- Bargain basement treatments might be initially attractive for their price, but the little bit extra money you might spend on quality window treatments will pay for itself in no time. It’s a well-worthwhile investment.
There are MANY different types of blinds and shutters from which to choose, so don’t feel bad if you don’t know where to begin!
That’s where we can help.
