3 Paint Color Trends you Need to Know for 2016

Paint colors are one of the most important decisions you make as a homeowner. We all know too well that there have been many fights over finding the perfect color that matches many personalities and styles.

With the New Year just beginning, many people may have renovating their homes and sprucing up those existing paint colors on their to-do list.

If that’s the case, we’d love to help out! At Dannenmueller, we’ve found those paint color trends for 2016 and want to share these new trends. 2015 was the year of royal blue hues and dark palettes, so let’s find out what 2016 has in store!

All Whites

Houzz mentioned that off-white will be the 2016 Color of the Year. And, it looks like all shades of white are going to be big this year. Four major paint brands have recognized the popularity of white and two have named it their color of the year, Benjamin Moore and Glidden.

Lilacs and Purples

One designer noted that although sometimes purples are thought to be childlike when, in all reality, they can bring a level of sophistication and warmth to a room. She suggests adding cooler tones along with these colors, like greys and blues. That will balance it out and give any room a more elegant feel.

Neutrals with a Pop

BEHR has a “High Contrast” section that shows off how neutrals with a pop are growing in popularity. They recommend combining chromatic brights with dark moody tones to create a playful and adventurous room that will impress your guests.

Remember, it’s important to pick colors that won’t just be popular in 2016 but will speak to your style and personality for years to come.
