Earth Day: Simple Changes To Go Green At Home

Happy Earth Day! You may think you aren’t ready to “Go Green,” but there are many simple ways to help our environment and it starts with a clean, breathable, organized home.

So help your family make simple changes to Go Green at home!

Think Before You Throw It Away!

We sometimes don’t hesitate to throw something out if we no longer find it useful. But, some items do not decompose well and can be seen as toxic to the environment.

You may be tired of it, or maybe you feel like it looks shabby. But, can you reuse it in a different way?

Old clothes cut up can make great dust rags. Glass jars can be used for storage containers, or use them as vases.

Then ask yourself, would someone else would find it useful? Think about donating it to a local charity. Granted, some items need to be thrown away, but sometimes they’re still in good shape and are just no longer useful to your family.

Use More Natural Cleaning Products.

Many cleaning supplies can be harmful to breathe in and will keep toxins in your home for a long time. The Wellness Mama suggests you keep some of these items on hand to help your cleaning routine:

  • White Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Borax
  • Washing Soda
  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Lemons

If you decide to throw out your old cleaning supplies, remember to check for the best way to dispose of them. Some communities have toxics recycling days you can look into.

Freshen Up the Air Inside and Out!

Plants naturally help purify the air, so add them to the inside and outside of your home.

To rid your home of toxins, try adding the beautiful Peace Lily. Or add the Spider Plant to eliminate airborne formaldehyde and benzene molecules.

On this Earth Day, teach your children about the importance of a clean environment and plant a new tree together! They’ll love watching it grow, and one day you’ll love the shade it provides.

A few simple steps can help improve your home and the environment! If you’re still looking for the best ways to organize your garage, kitchen or closetscontact us!
